• The UCMJ applies to any military member on active duty in the United States Armed Forces. In some cases, it can also apply to reservists and National Guard members.
• A courts-martial involves an allegation of a violation of the UCMJ for offenses as wide-ranging as drunk driving, rape, murder, assault and theft. It also includes military-specific offenses like conduct unbecoming an officer, fraternization, adultery, AWOL, desertion, disrespect, disobedience, and aiding the enemy.
